Gabriela Camargo Martins is a seasoned communications strategist with a history of working in a variety of member-driven nonprofit advocacy organizations — from trade unions, to public interest groups, to international human rights networks.

Prior to joining 617MediaGroup, Gabriela served as Communications Advisor and Press Secretary at NYC Census 2020, a first-of-its-kind organizing initiative established by City of New York.

Before her work with the City of New York, Gabriela served as Communications Coordinator at the International Network for Economic, Social & Cultural Rights where she coordinated communication between various civil society organizations and social movements across 75 countries, focusing on human-rights based corporate accountability campaigns.

Gabriela began her career in advocacy communications in Massachusetts, working with Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group, writing for the Public Interest Network and serving as the Deputy Communications Director at SEIU Local 509 — The Massachusetts Union for Human Service Workers and Educators.

She is a graduate of Brown University and is currently based in New York City.
